Good BBQ ribs and fried chicken. Killer sundae for dessert, perhaps a little too much caramel in the bottom but otherwise great. We sat in the Green Room a small private balcony which was very pleasant especially with a bit of a breeze blowing across.
We enjoyed our food but found that the pork ribs were a little tough but the sides what we had the cauliflower gratin and sweet potato fries with the pickles were nice. The bread buns were a little stale. The atmosphere- a little hot as the air con not working.
If you're looking for somewhere interesting to dine in Bathurst...consider B Town BBQ, connected to The Oxford. Well themed, friendly service and good food. We tried the Southern Fried Buttermilk Chicken & Brisket. Nice menu, which I'll have to sample further next visit...because there will be a next visit.
The restaurant itself is pleasing as very well decorated. But I go for food not decor. What this decor gives you the impression of is not the food you get on your plate. I honestly thought Texas and slow cooked succulent meat. I'm not sure if slow cooked brisket is meant to be small tiny pieces of black meat that clinks on your plate because it is hard and dry. We did not enjoy this food. No love or care in it.
Great food and lots of it. Ribs were cooked to perfection and burger was enormous. Highly recommend the R66 Sundae if you like caramel and nuts.... sugar overload
